Strategic Plan 2025 - 2030
Our 2020-2025 Strategic Plan (“The Mahwah Blueprint”) informed our work over the past five school years, serving as a collaborative process where all community members were able to share their perspectives about our district’s points of pride and areas for growth.
Through a series of town hall meetings, community members from across our schools and throughout Mahwah were able to attend opportunities to share out their points of view about our district’s potential. That feedback served as the basis for our four frames through which our work has been dedicated: those items connected to Curriculum and Instruction, Social-Emotional Learning, Community Connections, and Facilities.
As we near 2025, it is time to re-imagine, together, what our district can look like through the next five school years!
Our first Strategic Plan meeting will be held at Joyce Kilmer School on Monday, December 16, at 6:00 p.m., and all are invited to attend! An outside facilitator will work with us collectively to begin gathering information from our respective points of view, and the following meetings (on February 27 and April 9) will be used to synthesize our thoughts to crystallize into our Strategic Blueprint 2025-2030, where we will also work collaboratively to define the unique Flight of the Thunderbird.
If you are interested in joining us, please complete this RSVP so that we can plan our venue accordingly.
If you are not able to attend, we will be sending a follow-up communication that allows for you, as our school community, to share your thoughts through your survey responses.
Looking forward to doing this important work together!

- Please have your child dress accordingly for the weather of the day. We do go out each day as long as the temperature reads 32 degrees and above. We will strongly encourage students to wear their jackets, but will not force them to do so. Please speak to your children regarding your expectations for cold weather gear.
Please use caution when picking up your child during dismissal. While waiting on line, please do not block the Bartholf Lane, Fardale Avenue intersection. Likewise, we kindly ask that parents do not attempt to circumvent the car line by using Bartholf Lane to "cut" into line. We thank you in advance for understanding the minor inconvenience of waiting on line is well worth our students' and parents' safety.
Please see the link below for information about our Nut Free Classrooms
Please use caution and follow our drop off procedures each morning. To maintain student and parent safety during the "morning rush", we kindly ask that you follow the following procedures.
- Drive slowly and pull up to the curb when dropping your child off. All students should exit their cars on the curbside.
- Students should always walk on the sidewalk when walking into the building.
- If your child does not need assistance, have him or her exit the car as soon as you safely pull up to the curb. You do not have to drop your child off at the main entrance.
- If you child does need assistance, exiting the car, please pull in between the signs designated "Park and Drop Off", exit your car carefully, and assist your child while he or she gets out of the car. Please exercise caution when pulling back onto Fardale Avenue.
- Maintain a safe distance between cars when pulling up to the curb.
- When driving around a bus use extreme caution and do not exceed 10 mph.
We thank you in advance for complying with the above procedures. We are working with the Mahwah Police Department to ensure that proper traffic patterns are followed and that drop off is safe for both children and adults.
